It's fair to say my reply to your post triggered this digression, but what I'm saying is we digressed completely. The exchange of posts was in a very broad context. PR's post brought out the fallacy in the "we are not that" line of argument and I was responding to that in general. Īnd he too along with surya calls Sivakumar "appa", if that helpsīut I was not talking about you there to begin with! So how could I be talking about your prejudices? That's precisely what I tried to clarify. Second film of Ajith's I saw on big screen and he was cool. The plot made it all worthwhile and it was a very entertaining film. The undercover guy struggling to reestablish himself after his cop-handler died later resurfaced in a brilliant Hong Kong film, Infernal Affair, which was later remade into an Oscar winning film, The Departed in Hollywood. The wonderful thing about Billa (I mean, the original Don) is the plot. I think had a thread on remakes and sequels. Of course there are others that can be remade. There are many othe films that are worthy of a remake, is my take. The first one has never been raved by RK fans either. But otherwise, nothing much to write about. Rakesh, I guess Billa remake was a hit at the BO. Naan solla varadha neenga extrapolate, intrapolate laa paneenga na what can I do! I can answer for the statements I made, but I needn't answer for the assumptions made about my prejudice while making those statements.

(I replied specifically to you in the previous post.)Įven if that post wasn't for me, my response is the same. Business-wise, a good decision seeing that the Hindi original's remake was a hit.Įasy! That was a general comment in response to PR's post, and clearly I wasn't talking about or responding to you there. This one is huge improvement over the original. One more thing - prabhu in ayan enna avalavu pannittaru other than acting in sivakumar's son's movie? i havent watched ayan - i really would like to know.īecause (I am repeating) it has a good plot, and the first one, except for Rajini and MSV, was terrible. I dont know why they chose to remake of all films this one.īilla was pointless and A aa E ee is a breezy entertainerīilla pointless-a.i think Billa or Don(Amitabh) is the first out and out ruthless Don character played by a big mainstream hero.till that time, we used to have Ajith(hindi) in bolly doing these roles and Ashokan in tamil doing the DON roles here.and Billa story and the concept of "sending this guy to act as that guy" must be one of the most abused concepts in Indian cinema.

U mean the movie as a whole was pointless? Something that befits his range and intellect. Despite his weight, he did a good job in Billa (nice chemistry with Ajith). Wish they have something more heavy (no pun) for Prabhu to do. Vijaya Kumar is more stereotype dad, usually hell bent on not approving things. I meant, Raghuvaran specialises in that friendly brother/dad thingy. He is becoming a good character artiste these days. Vijayakumar range would be more appropriate. Nowadays he has been promoted from brother of heroine to father of heroine.ĪAEE is a feel good film - pure entertainment. Saw trailer showing Prabhu more prominently.
